SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate
Squad Leader: Luis
Supported Mod: SAS-Mod
Preferred Game Mode: Coop (PvE)
Up to now Swat4 is a pretty unique game: besides its predecessor Swat3 it’s the only tactical shooter focused on Law Enforcement rather than military operations. Your objectives are not only to clear buildings and rescue hostages. You also have to arrest the bad guys alive, if possible. This creates a bunch of tactical challenges which are usually not present in military operations.
The leader must adjust the Rules of Engagement depending on the scenario. Arresting some junkies with pistols after a failed robbery at a fuel station allows pretty gentle tactics to bring everyone home alive. Raiding a warehouse with organized and well-armed criminals requires some more aggression. And assaulting a hospital occupied by paramilitary terrorist with body armor demands almost military procedures.
Gentle Rules of Engagement are meant to save lives, but they are often a tactical disadvantage. The team might abandon some firepower by carrying one or two Less-Lethal weapons in order to neutralize suspects without lethal force. Instead of shooting armed contacts on sight, you have to issue compliance and give them a chance to surrender in many situations. And if they really drop their weapon, you must keep an eye on them until they are restrained.
Every operator must constantly assess the situation and decide how much force is necessary to control it. Instead of just a few hostages like in other games, you may encounter several unarmed civilians right between the bad guys. On the opposite armed suspects might be dressed like civilians. And just because someone carries a weapon, that doesn’t mean you are allowed to kill him immediately without mercy. As operator you constantly face the question whether the situation justifies the use of lethal force, based on the Rules of Engagement.
Details about the way we play can be found in our Swat4 specific tactical documents (which are based on our general tactical documents).
Moreover our public google drive folder contains some interesting resources like custom skins and tools.
Since October 2012 the official Swat4 GameSpy Masterserver is offline. Hence the in-game server browser is not working anymore: clients can not see any server in the list.
The recommended way to fix this issue is to install the MarkMods Serverlist Patch. This way the in-game server browser will work again showing all servers that are using the server version of this patch. It works for the SAS-Mod as well (using the TSS version).
You can also use tools like Xfire or Gametracker to find and join servers, or join in-game via direct IP.
Custom Map Pack
This map pack contains some (but not all) custom maps which we are using at our servers. We have splitted it in several parts so you don't have to download one huge file at once. Individual extraction is possible, although 11 maps may give error (they are splitted between parts). Each one has a file size of exactly 50 MB.
Note: Static Meshes and Textures are necessary to make some of the maps work. You may try to download several files at the same time if you want to get all the Customs Maps at once. Download rate may be silghtly higher this way.
Installation: Unpack the downloaded archive files with a program like WinRar or 7zip. Copy the folders "StaticMeshes", "Textures" and "Maps" to your SWAT 4 TSS directory, by default "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sierra\SWAT 4\ContentExpansion". Don't delete the existing folders, just add the new files.
