Topic: TakeDown Release Party

Date and Time:
20th, 21st and 22nd September, time for each day is flexible

Classification:
public, everyone is welcome

Organizer:
Raptor

Requirements to join:
- finish the in-game tutorial and training missions to get familiar with the controls
- do NOT play further missions (see below)
- working Microphone

Server:
hopefully AST|Testing Server wink

Content:
TakeDown is coming, and I would really like to explore the game with friends in MP wink
So here is the plan: everyone plays only the tutorials and trainings alone in Singleplayer to set up controls and such basic stuff. And then we try to rock the COOP missions in Multiplayer together. It will be a really cool challenge: testing our tactics and SOPs together as team in a brand new game. Zero map knowledge, except the one from the briefing. Plus no knowledge about odd or predictable AI behaviour. It’s like 6 LiveOps at one weekend.
Hence I’m asking everyone who wants to participate here explicitly to NOT play a map (or scout it via YouTube) before we played it in the event series! The game will ship with 6 maps, so we can play 2 brand new maps at 3 evenings or 3 brand new maps at 2 evenings (ofc several rounds per map). Should I hear a comment based on map knowledge, like “There is always a sniper in that window.” or “There is a another room not marked at the floor plan.”, during the first round on a new map, the concerned player will be kicked from the event and banned permanently on the AST TD server!

Sign up is not required, but helps planning and ensures that you get a slot. Please enter the times that you’ll be available in the according schedule, so that we can find the time for each day when most players are able to participate.

Hello there, I'd like to take slot #6 on Friday 20.09, as long as ITS|Recon is busy and you don't mind a public player smile

Hello,

One more newcomer from the Serellan's forum smile .
I'm a big fan of CQB /Tactical/Milsim shooters : R6, R6:RS, RvS, SWAT3/4, Operation flashpoint, all the ArmA...

I especially played a lot of ArmA II  in coop (1.5 years now) with a French
community (Canard PC). Our play style is focused on realism: a leader is
commanding other squad leaders, we try to use radio protocols, nice
formations ect...
We are not a team, everyone is allowed to play with us provided that they follow a small formation of about one hour.
So it is sometimes hard to play using real tactics because new players
are not really aware of them.

I really got interested of using real CQB tactics since a few months now. So I made a lot of research
about it, and with another player of my community (who was also
interested) we trained to reproduce the tactics we learned. It was a lot
of fun, but now my teammate has no time to play anymore and I'm all
alone cry .
That's why I'm really interested by your team.

I would gladly play with you on Takedown, to discover you and see how you
work. I understand that you will have no time for me today, but I hope
that this week-end will be ok for your. (Or maybe later)

I hope to be able to discuss about some tactics with you in the future,
because we had a slightly different way of clearing a room (Yes I saw
your library, the tactical spotlight and your videos biggrin (very good stuff by the way)).

-Wizel.

Ok one by one: Jack is out for today, Recon is in.

@Luis: Warrior never signed up for today (Canadians, always working at weird times... xD )

@Josef and Wizel: Welcome guys. As said before we will need some time today to get familiar with the game. Hence we will play the first rounds with members and known friends only.

However some of us (at least me) will be very likely playing all night. So I suggest you stop by later (mb 3-4 hours after release) in TS3, xfire or steam and see if we have an open slot (6 is a pretty small number, but afaik the maximum number for COOP). Same goes for Kingcab or any other newcomer who reads this.

@Wizel: our approach for room clearing comes mainly from Swat4. In a Law Enforcement scenario the NoMan'sLand (or Long Wall) pattern has some neat advantages. Since CQB is not that much of an issue in Arma2, we didn't integrate other patterns into our arsenal yet. But probably we will add at least Wall Flooding once TD is rolling properly wink
Btw if you want to play with us in Arma2 as well, contact Booone to get server access.

If you dont have an install button on ur Takedown on steam, just restart steam and it will be there when you launch it.

Update: the release version of the game seems to be very buggy when it comes to Multiplayer. Currently it's very difficult if not impossible to join servers. Waiting for patches/fixes. I'll post updates here if anything goes on.

Sidenote: besides that there are some more issues like a very restrictive loadout system and only limited/missing briefings. I'm personally pretty disappointment atm.
